Just over 7 years ago, we had a phone call during a rare night off with the news that a band had apparently let a couple down and were not present to perform at their wedding reception! While this is a worst nightmare scenario for any couple, we were charged with the mission of stepping in to the breach at short notice. Fortunately we were able to save the day at Glenskirlie House and Castle!
Since then, we have had the pleasure of being on the preferred list of suppliers at this family run business in Banknock, one that has been firmly on our favourite list ever since!
The reasons are not just the fact that it is local to us (a mere 15/20 minute drive from Glasgow) but also the way their weddings are conducted. Complete professionalism is the order of the day, from the ceremony to the wedding breakfast and of course, to the reception!
Glenskirlie House and Castle’s record of meeting time challenges in our experience is unsurpassed. It is very seldom that a wedding runs late which is a major feat in this industry!
Whether your wedding is being co-ordinated by Colin, Suzanne, Julie or Lynne, you can rest assured that no stone is left unturned and their collective years of experience provides peace of mind at such an important time while planning your special day. In fact every single staff member from housekeeping, maintenance, bar and kitchen are friendly and willing to assist at all times!
Two different venues are on site, either the Castle or the House, both offering sufficient capacity for small or large weddings and gorgeous grounds for photographs whatever the weather. This stunning photo of our happy couple Hollie and William Lindsay shows that photos work everywhere!
The function rooms themselves are ideal for extras a couple may like to add such as photobooth, chocolate fountain or why not add mood lighting to really make your mark by individualising the room to suit your theme?
The Glenskirlie House and Castle barbeque buffet is also one not to be missed – a unique addition and one that will have your guests talking long after the big day! We also had the pleasure of having a quick look at the wedding suites too – hot tubs offer a real luxurious way for a couple to kick off married life in style!
From an entertainer’s point of view, access is very simple (especially to the House which is possibly the easiest access in Scotland) meaning that delays during room turnaround are kept to a minimum. There is no restriction in terms of sound limiter which is a huge benefit compared to many venues in the country.
A hidden gem of a venue, one which deserves MUCH more recognition than it perhaps gets and one which we are always super excited to see in our diary!
The reason that the couple we mentioned earlier had apparently been let down? The band had put the wrong date in their diary and were booked for the following year.
We’ll guess that you’re going to check now, aren’t you?
