Most of Gordy is a DJ’s previous blogs have been offering advice and support. On this occasion, we thought we would take the chance to share the fabulous weddings during the very busy month of October 2019. Six weddings meant that we were in full flow. While every wedding was unique and special for their own reasons, we are delighted to highlight our favourite moments of the month.
It all began at the fabulous St Luke’s venue near the Glasgow Barrowlands celebrating the wedding of Tom and Angela Hughes. A new location for Gordy is a DJ and one which we hope to return to in the near future.
There was a magnificent mirrorball in the centre of the room which was very fitting as the happy couple had chosen their first dance to be “Mirrorball” by Elbow. A very different but spectacular way to begin their wedding reception.
Billy Reid Magician was a surprise feature for guests which went down extremely well – the man is a genius in our opinion having seen him ourselves!
Valerie and Derek Hall was our next couple who celebrated at the wonderful Avonbridge Hotel, in Hamilton. A mixed age group meant that Gordy is a DJ played an eclectic range of music including Bryan Adams and Ultrabeat – the groom’s personal favourite!
We returned quickly to the Avonbridge Hotel to celebrate with the new Mr and Mrs Craig. This couple and their guests certainly knew how to party. The above photo of our beautiful bride Laura was taken before the evening commenced and her amazing smile was present all evening! Dougie and Laura chose a fantastic final song, one which we were delighted to play – “Life With You” by the Proclaimers.
A visit to Dalduff Barn located in Ayrshire took us to the middle of October. Elona and Mark Scott had chosen a DIY wedding venue which Gordy is a DJ fell in love with as it was our first visit. The friendly staff, wonderful couple and guests welcomed us with open arms and everyone particularly enjoyed the GBX music along with some traditional ceilidh dancing.
Blythe and Neil Paterson’s fantastic wedding was next on our list and took us back to one of our favourite venues – Piersland House Hotel in Troon. Wedding co-ordinator Martin was attentive and friendly as always – we love visiting here! The happy couple had guests from as far as the USA and had chosen to incorporate guest requests in advance of their special day, meaning we had an extensive list of music to choose from! “Songbird” by Oasis was a terrific choice of first dance which everyone loved.
Our month finished with another new venue: Dunglass Estate. As detailed in the photographs above, our happy couple Scott and Chris took the opportunity to select blue mood lighting to enhance their marquee – what a transformation!
The largest wedding of the month in terms of crowd size and guest request list meant that Gordy is a DJ was kept busy all evening. We could still have been there the next day had we played them all – ha ha! Ceilidh was a popular inclusion along with a beautiful first dance by Jason Mraz called “Quiet”. A phenomenal firework display was something we seldom witness but was truly awesome!
“From Now On” – the popular track from The Greatest Showman was a fitting choice by the happy couple to complete the evening reception at this truly magical wedding.
