This blog is about 2 Scottish weddings with guests from the USA that Gordy is a DJ had the pleasure of being part of.
Both weddings involved guests who had travelled all the way from the USA! These guests were thrilled to be part of a Scottish wedding and were so kind to us. Everyone was glad that the weather was dry but our travellers were still feeling it to be cold. Lets remember they are used to temperatures of over 35 degrees celsius!
Dumfries House located in Ayrshire was the setting for our first wedding and what a superb place it is. If you are looking for a wedding venue that offers something truly remarkable, then look no further. Dumfries House is an exquisite 18th century country home which is full of character, perfect for those visitors from afar who want to learn about Scotland’s history! In 2007, The Prince of Wales (known as The Duke of Rothesay when in Scotland) became aware of this venue. Threatened with sale and dispersal, His Royal Highness led a consortium of organisations and individuals in a passionate campaign for its rescue. Thankfully this was successful and it is not only a wedding venue but also a tourist attraction.
The evening reception was held in the Dumfries House Pavilion with easy access and plenty of space for dancing. Mr and Mrs Karwowski wanted to include a ceilidh section and Gordy is a DJ was only too happy to demonstrate the dances. Scottish and Americans enjoyed learning new traditions and the strip the willow was a particular highlight! Well done to everyone who joined in and looked like experts even though it was their first attempt!

Our second wedding took us to the amazing Cringletie House which is located just outside of Peebles. With complete exclusivity for the wedding couple, it is easy to see why this Scottish Castle was the correct choice for our wedding couple Maribeth and Tim Hall. The feature image of this blog shows the venue’s attention to detail by displaying the American flag to welcome it’s visitors!! Having never visited Scotland before, they had the onerous task of planning their wedding completely from their home in America. Not an easy job!
The wedding was on a Monday for 44 guests, most of whom were American and had travelled from Detroit and Florida! Gordy is a DJ loved being part of this intimate day and these guests certainly knew how to party. Some Scottish polka dances were again demonstrated and Michael Jackson was a big hit especially with the young ring bearers.
The fantastic photograph above shows Maribeth and Tim with Sage, this magnificent creature who flew in with the rings at the ceremony. Wow, what an entrance!
