This week, we review one of Glasgow’s most desirable wedding locations, Hotel Du Vin & Bistro, One Devonshire Gardens, a stunning 5 star venue in Glasgow’s West End.
Revered for many generations, this venue consists of 5 individual town houses giving a boutique style hotel featuring 49 individually styled guest rooms close to the city’s Botanic Gardens.
As a wedding venue in particular, the fact that one of the town houses can be used independently from the rest of the hotel means that while it is part of an outstanding facility, it still boasts an “exclusive” environment in which to hold a wedding reception.
With a suite across two rooms, some may wish to stay in the more quiet bar area, others can let their hair down in the function room where the evening entertainment takes place.
One item which is often criticised about venues is however present – a sound limiter. This serves to restrict the volume that is allowed to be reached by entertainers. However, in our experience, this limiter is not particularly restrictive, has been set up and is maintained properly meaning there is less chance of music cutting out and spoiling the atmosphere.
Ultimately, this serves to keep the sound levels at an appropriate level for such a small room. While DJs have apparently never been cut off by this, some live bands admittedly may find it a challenge.
Parking during the busiest times can be difficult, although currently there are no meters in place. Access to the function suite is up 10 steps to the entrance then along a short corridor.
Hotel Du Vin & Bistro wedding co-ordinators John, Luke and all staff are always ready and willing to help, nothing seems too much trouble and they are always on hand should the need arise.
Overall, a very inviting venue with a justifiably huge reputation which on our visit was duly maintained, well done to all concerned!
If you are lucky enough to be having a wedding reception at this venue, we’d be delighted to hear from you about our multi award-winning service!
